For February’s Open Studio Night (2/13/14, 6-8 PM), Creative Reuse will be partnering with Knit the Bridge!
The project at hand will be converting the black railing covers from the Knit the Bridge installation into scarves for the East End Cooperative Ministry shelters.
From Knit the Bridge’s blog:
“We need folks who can stitch bridges onto the scarves using yarn needles and yarn. We also need folks who can help us resize, crochet borders, and bind off railing covers that are just a little too tall for human usage. Don’t have these skills? We can show you how!
This is also a great opportunity to share your creative ideas for railing re-purposing with us. We will have extras for folks to play with. And the Creative Reuse bulk section is free to use!”
If you’re not in the mood for fabric arts, we’ll have some materials ready for you to create some tokens of affection for your dearest darling Valentine!
Creative Reuse Open Studio Night is an after-hours gathering for creative minds 21+
Bring some art, bring some friends! Sometimes we have a project in mind to share (see above)… sometimes we don’t! But one thing’s for sure — we always have a good time and we’d love your company. In the past, we’ve made mail art, scrap wreaths, and collages. Who knows what we’ll make in the future!
The bulk section is free to use for projects you are making that night, as are the tools of the trade — scissors, glue, staplers, and whatever other mystery items we find at the bottom of the barrel. You can bring a half-completed project to finish, or come empty handed and start something new. It’s really what you make of it.
Join us the second Thursday of every month, 6-8pm at Creative Reuse! This event is pay-what-you-wish and BYOB. Sometimes people bring snacks to share, too. Check our facebook page for monthly event details!
