Teaching Artist Internship​

In collaboration with the Creative Education Team, the Teaching Artist Intern will help plan and facilitate creative hands-on learning activities for people of all ages, and will assist with the development of systems for improving our Creative Education Programs. Substantial weekend availability is desired for any internship period. For summer internships, must be available to assist with the Three Rivers Arts Festival.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Learn best practices from experienced teaching artists
  • Connect with local artists, educators, and nonprofit leaders

Responsibilities:

  • Program coordination, development, implementation, and facilitation
  • Assist with the design, planning and preparation of Creative Reuse educational programs
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of supplies, materials, and tools for education programs, and with the continuous improvement of storage and materials management systems.
  • Assist with program evaluation, including the creation, collection, and collation of evaluation materials.
  • Assist with keeping communal areas tidy (kitchen, bathrooms, warehouse, etc.)

For Specific Events/Programs:

  • Set up and/or break down creative activities at programs
  • Welcome and interact with program participants of all ages
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-organized workspace
  • Create signage, displays, and project prototypes
  • Prevent injury and accidents
  • Help inspire and assist program participants
  • Assist with program follow-up and evaluation
  • Serve as an ambassador for Creative Reuse and answer questions about our history, mission, how to donate, and general shop and program information

Qualifications:

  • Must enjoy working with children
  • Must have state and federal clearances for working with children
  • Art and/or craft skills and familiarity with materials
  • Creative problem solving abilities
  • Excellent people skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow-through on tasks
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds
  • Passion for the environment, art, education and community engagement
