Programs
We offer directed reuse art activities, facilitated by our amazing Teaching Artists, where participants can partake in a specific craft making experience. These programs range from zine and DIY journal making, to jewelry making, and even puppet-making! Many of our programs prompt participants to think about their contribution to their local community, how reuse can become a part of their art-making practice, and how we can create the world we wish to see through art, reuse, and community connection! If you’re interested in seeing our full Programs Menu, please email us at programs@pccr.org.
If you’re interested in a less structured/more free-form activity, we also offer Open-Ended Making Programs! During these events, materials are set up buffet-style and each participant collects the materials they wish to use. We encourage participants to focus on the process of how it feels to make art, lean into their creative impulses, and experiment with our unique materials! Our Teaching Artists act as non-judgemental facilitators, there to give guidance and supportive encouragement when requested, but encourage self-directed creativity.

Puppets
Design and build puppets of all sorts, including rod and shadow puppets. Start with a character sheet to establish key details, then craft a puppet using a variety of materials! A skit with everyone’s puppets at the end is always encouraged, too.
Shadowbox Dioramas
Create a tiny three dimensional world or scene inside a box lid or other vessel using unique bits and pieces. A hanger can easily be attached to make it into a cool hanging art piece!
Funky Scrap Collages
A simple and easy project that can yield some outstanding artwork. Start with a host of scrap paper, small three dimensional objects, and other assorted materials and let the imagination take it from there!
Bookbinding
Make books from a variety of fun, reclaimed materials using simple, safe, and successful bookbinding techniques (e.g. stick bound, modified stab binding, and folded books).
Trophy Sculpture
Explore trophy-making as an art form using parts from disassembled trophies and other fun materials. Learn about sculpture, reuse and nuts-and-bolts making. Construct a trophy to celebrate yourself or someone special!
Plastic Portraits
Keep recycled plastic out of the landfill by transforming non-recyclable plastic pieces into vibrant, collaged portraits. Create expressive self-portraits or likenesses of inspirational people.
