Want to try knitting for the first time? Want to pick it up again? Want to tweak your skills and/or see what other folks are making? Make this workshop what you want it to be! A brief handout of useful resources for knitters and would-be knitters will be supplied. There will be knitting needles and yarns on hand, especially for new knitters to try. Please feel free to bring your own projects whether you are seeking guidance or not. Samples of knitting related projects using felting or upcycling will also be shown.
About the Teaching Artist: Katy Baty (she/her) has knitted for decades. She has never taught a formal knitting class, but has taught friends, children, colleagues, college students, and strangers to knit. As a scientist, she loves doing experiments and that bled into her knitting (or maybe it’s the other way around!?). She’s tried new techniques, recycling textiles, and making her own patterns and found knitting to be practical, lovely for gift-making, sensuous and relaxing, or challenging and exciting. Katy looks forward to sharing knitting adventures and learning from others during this workshop.
